Artist Biography
- Katrina Horne
- is an Interdisciplinary Artist working with video, installation and movement. She received her MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, US. Commissions include the Art Institute of Chicago, US and Arnolfini, Watershed and Chapter, UK. She has received awards from the Illinois Arts Council, Arts Council England and the British Council.

“I take it red’s your favourite colour.”
“Big issue, because I like your boots.”
“Oh I see you’re tracing the shadow of the bridge."
"What are you doing? (I lost count of how many times- I asked people what they thought I was doing.)
“It looks like reverse tagging, you should look into it. It’s totally illegal because of the chemicals used to do it.”
“You should check out Stokes Croft.”
“It would be worth over a million pounds if it weren’t salt.”
“What are you doing putting paint on the bridge?…Oh that’s ok, it’s salt.”

“That dries instantly… white lining. By the time we’ve out it down and stood up it’s dried. I wondered if this was the same.”
“I just heard yesterday I’m getting my book published and you know what’s weird it starts and finishes on this bridge.”
“I don't want to disturb it.”
“Not doing a Banksy are you?”
“I never thought if drawing in salt.”
“What kind of painting do you usually do?’
“Where’s the sparrow?… Don't; you know? Saxo salt. If you put salt on the tail of the bird you can catch it. Someone tried to put the salt on the tail of the sparrow… 1940’s advert.”
“It’s like you are 16 again.”
“The bridge is very modern, hard lines yet the slat is soft and takes us back in time to Victorian times. Shapes, curves, a softness totally contrasting the hardness of the iron.”
“The assault of the bridge.”
“A bridge over troubled water.”
“Hello it’s the crasy artist again.”
“You must have a lot of patience, you were here an hour ago when I came into town. How much longer will you be here?”
“It’s fun to see someone having fun.”
“What’s the point in that? Why do your thing? Because you want to. It’s art. It’s creative.”
“The trick is to sniff it in one.”
“Simple, nice, nourishing, yum yum. They missed out.”
“I really like it, simple and effective.”
“It really looks like paint. I’m glad you are using salt.”
"The Severn shed end had been trodden into a salty white haze by the time I left but the lines were clearer at the other end still. I love the sense of wear and tear!"

Enjoyed seeing the blog yesterday, you had really good weather. Your work was interesting, I liked the way people seemed to be sensitive when walking over the lines so as not to mess them up. It seemed a very simple yet effective idea. Also you looked very sweet in your pink outfit
It looked like a lot of fun.
It took me a while to realise it was salt and therefore potentially very ephemeral...a gust of wind or drop of rain...!
I loved seeing the piece photographed from different angles, and made me think that what we experience very much depends upon our point of view.
I’m sorry I missed it, I liked the blog. A simple idea but effective.
